Prabowo Subianto dan PM Papua Nugini Bersama, Bahas Kerjasama Bilateral

Port Moresby – During an official visit to Papua New Guinea, Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto met with Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape on Wednesday (21/8).

The two leaders discussed various issues, including bilateral and international matters of mutual interest, as well as steps to strengthen the long-standing strategic partnership between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

Prabowo highlighted the synergy between the two countries and the potential for cooperation in sectors such as food production, agriculture, fisheries, mining, minerals, and tourism. He expressed Indonesia’s eagerness for more collaboration with Papua New Guinea.

In the field of education, Prabowo extended an offer for Papua New Guinean youths to study at the Indonesian Defense University (Unhan). He also mentioned that Indonesia has opened all military schools and institutions for potential students from Papua New Guinea.

Marape appreciated Prabowo’s efforts to promote peace and reconciliation, as well as his commitment to continuing initiatives started by President Joko Widodo. The Papua New Guinea Prime Minister noted the significant improvement in the relationship between the two countries, leading to new opportunities for collaboration.

Marape commented, “The barriers that once hindered the relationship between Papua New Guinea and Indonesia have been removed, creating business opportunities and enhancing cross-border movement of people and goods between our nations.”(RR)
