He also described social polarization as a problem and urged the younger generation to be “afraid” of these issues. This is not the first time Gates has identified modern-day challenges. In a blog post from 2023, he expressed his growing desire to improve the world as his family expands. Gates believes that society is experiencing a shortage of intelligence but sees AI as a potential solution rather than a problem. Despite warnings about AI disasters from some quarters, Gates remains optimistic about the productive uses of AI. He envisions a future where the quality of life improves, risks are mitigated, and medical breakthroughs tackle diseases like Alzheimer’s, obesity, HIV, polio, measles, and malaria. Despite the obstacles ahead, Gates hopes that fear can serve as a motivating force for the younger generation, spurring them to action towards a better future.
