A meeting was held at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, bringing together several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet to discuss the situation of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The main objective of the meeting was to find solutions for the affected workers, following a directive from Prabowo. Among the attendees were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
During the meeting, Prasetyo emphasized the president’s concern for the workers and stressed the urgency of resolving the issues faced by PT Sritex since it declared bankruptcy in October 2024. The goal is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees in the textile sector with a new working scheme. Minister Yassierli praised the efforts of the curator in ensuring that former Sritex employees could potentially be rehired within the next two weeks.
Prabowo’s commitment to providing support and guidance is expected to bring relief to PT Sritex employees affected by the layoffs. The Ministry of Manpower is actively working to safeguard the rights of PT Sritex Group workers, ensuring they receive layoff compensation and other normative rights. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of selecting investors to manage Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, aiming to reemploy the laid-off workers and bring stability to their situation.
