French President Emmanuel Macron made a significant visit to Indonesia, underlining the strong and meaningful partnership between the two countries. The French President was warmly received by President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta during his visit.
Macron expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and highlighted the potential to enhance the strategic alliance between France and Indonesia. He stressed the importance of collaboration across various sectors including the economy, technology, security, and culture. The diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France have been in place for 75 years, with notable advancements particularly in the last decade.
Acknowledging Indonesia’s pivotal role in upholding regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region, Macron applauded the progress in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy initiatives, transportation, and the energy transition agenda. The French President also focused on cultural exchange, with plans to sign a cultural agreement at the Borobudur Temple complex symbolizing the blossoming friendship between the two nations. Macron expressed appreciation to President Prabowo for the hospitality shown and expressed optimism for ongoing collaborative endeavors during his two-day official trip to Indonesia.
