Prabowo Affirms: Red and White Cooperatives for the People

President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, emphasized the importance of the 80,081 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives in improving the welfare of the people. During the official launch of the program in Bentangan Village, Klaten, President Prabowo cautioned against the recurrence of past mistakes, particularly referencing the misuse of cooperatives in the New Order era. He stressed that the new cooperative system is characterized by technology and transparency, allowing for real-time monitoring and auditing of financial transactions. The President underscored the significance of ensuring that the cooperatives serve the community and declared that they belong to the people. He urged village heads to actively supervise the cooperative chairpersons to prevent any form of exploitation. President Prabowo used a traditional metaphor to emphasize the power of unity in cooperatives, highlighting the importance of mutual cooperation in strengthening the economic force of communities. He expressed optimism that the Merah Putih Cooperatives would play a pivotal role in revitalizing Indonesia’s rural economy by decentralizing resources and redirecting funds to regencies, districts, and villages. Through this movement, President Prabowo envisions a shift in the economic landscape from urban centers to the grassroots level, fostering economic growth and empowerment in the regions.
