Indonesia’s National Children’s Day is more than just a yearly event; it holds a deeper meaning for President Prabowo Subianto. His goal is to take concrete actions that will secure a brighter future for the nation’s children. Through the efforts of Dedek Prayudi, a Senior Expert at the Presidential Communications Office, the government has introduced three key programs aimed at improving children’s well-being: Nutritious Free Meals (MBG), Free Health Checkups (CKG), and School Revitalization.
MBG, also known as Makan Bergizi Gratis, goes beyond simply providing meals to children; it ensures that they receive the necessary daily nutrients for their overall health. With data revealing that 60% of school-aged children attend school on an empty stomach, MBG becomes crucial in preventing issues like iron deficiency anemia, which can significantly impact a child’s IQ and overall development.
In addition to MBG, the government is implementing Free Health Checkups for students, covering various aspects such as physical health, vision, hearing, and mental well-being. This initiative aligns with the constitutional mandate to ensure the right to health for all citizens, including children, under Article 28(H) of the 1945 Constitution.
Furthermore, the School Revitalization Program aims to renovate over 11,000 schools across Indonesia, addressing the urgent need for improved learning facilities. President Prabowo has allocated significant funds from the national budget to support this program, recognizing the importance of a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.
The focus of these initiatives is on enhancing the overall well-being of Indonesian children, from providing nutritious meals to ensuring access to quality healthcare and safe learning environments. By prioritizing the most vulnerable schools and communities, the government is taking proactive steps to secure a better future for the younger generation, emphasizing the importance of dignity, health, and safety in every child’s educational journey.
