Semangat “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” dalam Kostum Paralimpiade Paris 2024: Karya Masterpiece oleh Didiet Maulana

Jakarta – The 2024 Paris Paralympics, which will begin on August 28, 2024, will highlight the dedication and hard work of Indonesian Paralympians. As the event approaches, one of the crucial elements being finalized is the design of the costumes for the Indonesian contingent. While Didit Hediprasetyo designed the costumes for the 2024 Paris Olympics, this time, Didiet Maulana, through his brand IKAT Indonesia, has taken on the responsibility of designing the costumes for the Paralympics.

The costumes are inspired by the spirit of “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” (Unity in Diversity), which is a fundamental concept in Indonesian culture. In collaboration with Mills, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia, Didiet Maulana has created a collection that includes jackets, jerseys, and track pants. The design not only focuses on aesthetics but also embodies the values of unity and diversity that are integral to the Indonesian nation.

The design series, named “Sandya Niskala,” incorporates traditional ikat weaving patterns that represent the diversity of Indonesian culture. The geometric patterns in the design are inspired by dynamic ocean waves, reflecting Indonesia’s identity as an archipelagic nation. The motifs also draw inspiration from the Garuda Pancasila, the national emblem of Indonesia, symbolizing strength, unity, and solidarity.

The colors chosen for the costumes – red, white, gold, and gray – each carry a specific meaning. Red symbolizes courage, white represents purity, gold signifies grandeur and glory, and gray symbolizes responsibility. These colors aim to bring an energetic vibe and good hopes for the Indonesian athletes competing in the Paralympics.

To celebrate the launch of the collection, Didiet Maulana organized a photo session with Indonesian Paralympians participating in the 2024 Paris Paralympics. The session, themed “Embrace and Celebrating Our Athlete,” aimed to honor the spirit and dedication of the athletes representing Indonesia on the global stage. Didiet hopes that the “Sandya Niskala” collection will not only symbolize unity and diversity but also inspire and empower the athletes as they compete.

The costumes designed by Didit Hediprasetyo for the Indonesian contingent at the 2024 Paris Olympics drew inspiration from the national song “Berkibarlah Benderaku” (Fly My Flag). These jerseys featured the red and white colors of the Indonesian flag, adorned with the Garuda Pancasila emblem, reflecting national pride and the spirit of nationalism.

Both Didiet Maulana and Didit Hediprasetyo have made significant contributions to designing costumes that are not only functional but also carry deep meaning, showcasing pride and unity for Indonesia on the international stage.
