Moscow – Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto called Russia a ‘good friend’ and expressed his intention to continue strengthening their relationship.
“It is important to remember that Russia supported us (Indonesia) in various ways when we faced challenges. Russia was there for us during those difficult times,” Prabowo said during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, Russia, on Wednesday (31/7).
He noted that Russia has also assisted Indonesia in enhancing its defense and military capabilities. As the defense minister, Prabowo highlighted the solid collaboration between Indonesia and Russia.
“I want to emphasize that this partnership will continue once I officially become the president of Indonesia on October 20,” he added.
Moreover, Prabowo mentioned that he has been engaged in extensive communication and discussions with Putin’s team, particularly regarding the defense industry.
“I have also held meetings with key figures in your industry, specifically in the defense sector, and have had thorough discussions over the past few months about a roadmap to enhance cooperation between us (Indonesia) and Russia,” Prabowo concluded.
