President Prabowo: Merah Putih Village Cooperatives To Combat Middlemen

President Prabowo Subianto, in an event held in Bentangan Village, Klaten Regency, Central Java, highlighted the importance of the 800,081 Merah Putih Village Cooperatives as a solution to the economic challenges faced by farmers in rural areas. These cooperatives aim not only to boost economic independence but also to eradicate exploitative practices by middlemen and loan sharks that have long plagued the agricultural sector. Prabowo, who has been actively involved in addressing these issues since his tenure as the Chairman of the Indonesian Farmers Harmony Association (HKTI) in 2004, emphasized the need for better logistics, storage facilities, and access to subsidized fertilizers for farmers. He also condemned the exploitation of farmers by middlemen who manipulate prices and the predatory practices of loan sharks. Through the establishment of these cooperatives, President Prabowo hopes to break the cycle of exploitation and empower farmers to take control of their livelihoods. By taking bold and decisive action, he believes that Indonesia can pave the way for a more equitable and sustainable agricultural sector.
