President Prabowo’s launch of 80,081 Kopdes Merah Putih cooperatives aims to address these pressing issues and promote self-reliant, inclusive, and equitable economic growth.
The strategic implementation of the program aligns with the Asta Cita vision, placing cooperatives as key drivers of rural economic development. By establishing these cooperatives, the government aims to generate employment opportunities, encourage entrepreneurship, and bolster local production centers sustainably. For Dedi Nurendi, the head of Kopdes Merah Putih in Cileunyi Wetan village, Bandung regency, West Java, the program has already delivered tangible benefits to the community. By providing easier access to basic necessities and offering financial services that deter residents from falling prey to informal lenders, the cooperative has proven to be a vital resource for economic stability. Dedi encourages community members to participate in cooperatives as a means of fostering mutual cooperation and addressing local economic needs collectively.
